Double End Eye Splice - add'l charge for 2 eyes on same rope.
If you have a need for a rope to be spliced on both ends AND be an exact length, or if you have multiple ropes that need splices on each end and be exact lengths.... then this service is for you.
Getting a rope to be an exact length with eye splices on each end is a much more time consuming task than just doing a splice on one end of the rope. This service is pretty neat, and if you have never ordered one of these before please consider calling our shop here at 419-873-8300 for assistance and we would be more than happy to guide you through this.
Reason why is because when we do an eye splice the it caused the rope to get a little wider in the splice area, and that subsequently causes the rope to shorten up just a bit. The amount the rope shortens up can vary by rope and by the type of splice we are doing. Unfortunately, this isn't an exact science and it can take a little trial and error to get the length dialed in perfectly....so it can take a lot of time to get it all just right.
For that reason, we offer the double end eye splice for exact measurements service. For this modest fee we will get your rope with two splices as close as possible to your precise measurements.
Now... the fine print... for your planning purposes on this there are some things to keep in mind.
- First, all ropes will stretch a bit when a load is applied, so this will cause that length to grow a bit. Not only does the rope stretch (the amount of stretch depends on the rope type) but the splice itself will tighten up a bit and compress just a small amount. This will also effectively "lengthen" the rope, even if it is just a tiny bit.
- Second, the inside diameter of the splice and what you attach it to will make a difference in the overall length of the rope when you are hanging something from it. For example, if you are hanging the rope on a 1" peg, vs. a 5" diam peg then the rope eye splice will be a little wider around the 5" peg and again, effectively making the rope a little shorter.
